While I have been knitting and crocheting right along all year, I haven't really been doing much, or finishing much, for my dolls. I fixed that this past weekend.
First, the craft project that kicked things off.
I wanted to make a laptop for a different doll but it soon became apparent that this one was going to end up far too small for the original recipient. I continued anyway because, as you see, I have smaller dolls that could use it. Fiona claimed it for herself.
Bless the companies selling laptop keyboard stickers, they take great straight from overhead shots of keyboards. I found a white one what I could colorize to match.
I did make an alternate screen with a mock up of an email client on it, but didn't use it for two reasons. One, I didn't measure correctly so it was too wide and I didn't care for how it looked when I trimmed the right edge down to fit. Two... you could still read the lorem ipsum even in the teeeeeeny text I used. I'll have to pick a nonsense font to use for these sorts of projects.
Next, I finished up a project I started in February, Momiji's sweater.
I have had the body done for months and finally buckled down and finished the sleeves about a week or two ago.
After I finished the sleeves I decided the body was too short, so this past weekend I picked out the sewn bindoff and added more length with the last bit of dark purple I had.
After that was finished the last project I chose to tackle was Fiona's wig.
The wig cap was a moderate failure, but as it turns out, curing time and strapping it to her head with a ribbon improved it enough to make finishing it as a "good enough for now" wig worthwhile.
Finishing this wig gave me a few ideas to try for the next one, particularly how the hair nearly meets under her ears here.
I do really like how the variegated yarn made interesting mottling and stripes.
All in all, very cute in my opinion.
The crown may have a bit too much glue, and she needs a headband to keep it tight to her head. I am trying to decide if I want to try just smearing silicone around the inside of the wig in hopes it will be sticky enough to keep her sideburns down when it is dry, or if I want to embed an outline of wire in the silicone about half a centimeter back from the edges.
And that's it until I either update with the finished human scale things from this year or I finish more doll things.
